Description

We all want to create a healthy and safe sleeping environment to ensure a better night's sleep for our little ones, and peace of mind for you, the parent. That's why we've considered the smallest of details of every level of this fully reversible mattress to ensure it's not only comfortable and supportive but safe and convenient as well. Suitable from birth to approximately 5 years of age, it benefits from a dual-core interior that offers superior comfort, support and breathability for all climates. Benefits at every level: Outer cover - the unique 3D Breathex Airflow Plus and Supersoft Permex Plus hypo-allergenic cover promotes air circulation to help prevent overheating and maximise breathability for your child. The cover is removable and washable for ease of care. It can be easily removed for washing at 60 degrees Celcius in accordance with the care label, killing dust mites, a common cause of allergies. Inner cover - features a non-woven wipe clean layer made from vapour permeable yet water-repellent fabric, that helps to protect the comfortable dual core, perfect when potty training or when your child has a little accident. Dual Core interior - durable and long-lasting, it benefits from a natural coconut fibre sleeping pad (Coir) on one side for a firmer sleeping surface that's great for toddlers, and pocket springs on the other that provide support optimum postural support for young babies. The springs used in this pocket spring mattress are individually sewn, self-contained micro-pockets which adapt to your child's precise shape. The Dual Core is also completely wrapped in a fibre comfort layer. Two-sided support - The pocket spring side is suitable from birth to 24 months while the coir side is suitable for kids over 24 months. Base of the cover - features Supersoft Permex Plus, which is a hypo-allergenic, PVC-free waterproof fabric that is easy to wipe clean. This is a firm mattress, which we know is safest for babies because it reduces the risk of SIDS. All our John Lewis cot/cotbed mattresses are tested to BS EN 16890:2017+A1:2021 & BS 7177:2008+A1:2011 safety standards. Good things to note when buying your mattress: Always check the mattress size you’ve bought is the correct one for the size of your cot/cotbed before removing from the packaging. Please ensure to always store the mattress flat or in the cot/cotbed, not upright. Due to the nature of shipping, (once the packaging has been removed and safely disposed of) please allow 24-48 hours for the mattress to settle before use. Please check that any fitted sheets used are the correct size for the mattress. Sheets that are too tight may compress the mattress, leaving a larger than is safe gap between the mattress and the cot. This also applies to sheets that may have shrunk in the wash. Always position your mattress in the centre of your cot so that there is no more than a 30mm gap between the cot and the mattress on the side, top, or bottom, once it has fully expanded. This allows the mattress to settle in use and leaves space for bedding. A gap on any side under 30mm is considered safe and acceptable.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
